Myra Krien

Myra Krien is a renowned dance artist, professional dance mentor, international performer, choreographer, and teacher of bellydance. Krien founded the Pomegranate SEEDs® (Self-Esteem, Empowerment and Education through Dance) Youth Mentorship Program in 2000 in response to the needs of youth in her community. With the extraordinary success of this program, Krien began the SEEDs Teacher Training, to train dance instructors both nationally and internationally, how to offer this powerful programming to their communities. To date, 125 SEEDs instructors have been certified, and there are 38 SEEDs programs up and running throughout the United States and Mexico.

  • I left the SEEDS Training program in June, 2012 with lots of information and insights, not only on how to run a SEEDs program, but fantastic advice on everything from fundraising to business and valuing our time and talent as artists. The group of nine women from around the country bonded quickly and shared lots of creative ideas. I came away with a lot of inspiration and plans for my version of the SEEDs program. It is great to be part of a national alliance of people who love dance and want to help their communities through dance.
